On June 4, 2025, the Prefects’ Guild of Ananda College, including junior prefects, undertook a special educational visit to the Parliament of Sri Lanka. This initiative aimed to enhance the leadership skills of the prefects, deepen their understanding of democratic governance, and bring them closer to the country’s administrative processes.
The project was carried out under the leadership of Head Prefect Senal Pathirathna, with guidance from Deputy Head Prefect Tharusha Randitha, and was based on an idea proposed by junior prefect Methul Jayasundara. The full support and approval of the Prefects’ Guild were given to implement this meaningful initiative.
Through this visit, the prefects gained the opportunity to observe parliamentary proceedings directly, allowing them to acquire a clearer and more detailed understanding of how the Parliament of Sri Lanka functions. It also helped them appreciate the role of constitutional institutions in upholding democracy.
The success of this project was made possible with the support of the Principal and the senior school administration, as well as the dedicated efforts of the Deputy Principal, Mr. Sugeeth Madhuranga as the Master-in-Charge of the Prefects’ Guild. Special appreciation is also extended to Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, Chief Parliamentary Officer Mrs. Sujeewa Alexander, and Mrs. Anuradha, along with all others who contributed to the success of the visit.
