Ananda College solemnly commemorated the nation’s fallen war heroes at its annual War Heroes Tribute Ceremony, “Ranaviru Upahara 2026,” held on 19th May 2026 at the college premises.

The ceremony was conducted at the Ananda College War Heroes’ Monument to honour the old Anandians who made the supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.

The event was attended by the Principal, Deputy Principals, members of the Old Boys’ Association, teachers, and students of the College. Adding dignity and significance to the occasion was the presence of a distinguished group of old Anandians currently serving in the Tri-Forces and Police, together with several retired senior military officers who gathered to pay tribute to their fallen comrades.

The commemorative proceedings commenced with the offering of floral tributes at the monument by school officials, military representatives, and student leaders. The gathering then observed a solemn two-minute silence in remembrance of the brave heroes who laid down their lives in service to the nation. The ceremony concluded with the traditional sounding of the Last Post by military buglers, creating a deeply moving atmosphere of reflection and gratitude.

For generations, Ananda College has produced outstanding national leaders and courageous members of the armed forces who have served the country with honour and distinction. “Ranaviru Upahara 2026” once again reaffirmed the College’s enduring commitment to remembering its heroes and inspiring the present generation of Anandians with the values of patriotism, discipline, sacrifice, and duty to the nation.
