On the sacred Poson Full Moon Poya Day, Friday, June 6, 2025 — a day that commemorates the arrival of Arahant Mahinda Thero and the beginning of a profound spiritual transformation in Sri Lankan society — a remarkable act of generosity and faith unfolded at the hallowed grounds of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.
A grand Kiribath Dansala (milk rice almsgiving), organized for over ten thousand devotees, was successfully held with deep reverence and devotion. This noble initiative was organized by the Principal, academic staff, and students of Ananda College, with the blessings of the Venerable Mahāsangha of the College.
The event received the sacred blessings of the Atamasthanadhipathi, Most Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero, adding spiritual strength to the meritorious deed.
This Poson almsgiving not only served as an offering to the faithful but also stood as a powerful testament to the values of compassion, unity, and gratitude rooted deeply in our culture and Buddhist heritage.
We extend heartfelt punyanumodana and sincere thanks to all those who contributed in numerous ways and participated in this worthy cause. May the merits of this act bring peace, happiness, and spiritual upliftment to all.
