In commemoration of World Drug Prevention Day, Ananda College organized a special awareness program aimed at educating students on the dangers of drug abuse. The event took place on June 26, 2025, at the Kularathna Memorial Auditorium, with the participation of approximately 900 senior Anandians.
The initiative was coordinated through the efforts of Mr. D.G.H. Prasantha, Senior Superintendent of Police and Director of the Police Narcotic Bureau, who has been in close contact with the college to support preventive education.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Prabath Widanagama, Assistant Superintendent of Police, who spoke on the critical importance of drug prevention, its relevance to youth, and the long-term consequences of substance abuse. His engaging and informative session was met with highly positive feedback from the students.
The event was held under the guidance of the Principal of Ananda College, Mr. D.M.L.P. Dissanayake, whose presence and leadership underscored the school’s strong commitment to student well-being and awareness.
Ananda College extends its sincere appreciation to the Police Narcotic Bureau for their valuable contribution to this important educational effort.
